Every Woolboo pattern starts the same way: a mother at home picks up a hook and makes something for a child she knows. Sometimes because she liked the shape of it. More often because her own child asked for one.
Our designers are stay-at-home mothers who crochet around their days — in the gap before school pick-up, after bedtime, in the twenty minutes that happen to be free. That is why the patterns read the way they do. They were written by people who make in interrupted time, so the rounds are numbered clearly, the stitch counts are there when you lose your place, and the assembly notes assume you have put the piece down and come back to it.

These are not patterns reverse-engineered from a photograph. Each one was made as a toy first, for a real child, and written down afterwards.
